In my PMP journey, I have learned that the field of mathematics is far richer than problem-solving. I have developed an appreciation of theory.
Theory allows us to understand the nature of things, the validity of our approach, and the soundness of our solutions. It's as if the quest to achieve ever greater levels of generalization brings us into closer contact with the Platonic forms. Or perhaps as our knowledge grows, the synthesis of our collective efforts affords an understanding of an interrelatedness which, dare I say, unveils the mind of God.
Although I can no longer gaze in wonder at a star-filled sky, I can appreciate, in a commensurate sense, feats of human ingenuity that underlie some of the more recent advances in science and technology. And I hope that in the appropriate season, I will make a beneficial contribution within the field of human endeavor.
